Would you buy an e-book (electronic book reader)?
I find the current selection of e-book reader pretty dull and un-inspiring. Even if the price was something in the tens of pounds rather than the hundreds I don’t think I would be rushing to buy one. If there was a sexy device, perhaps very slim and A5 in size, that had a really nice colour screen and I could browse the internet, read books, watch movies, do my email on then yes I would be interested. The more desirable a device becomes the less the price will be a factor. Amazon apparently are close to a UK launch date for the new Kindle, which should give online capability and the ability to read newspapers and magazines. Plastic Logic could bring their WiFi e-reader to the UK. So we can see technology is getting closer to delivering a better device. Personally I think it is going to take someone like Apple to bring out that “must have” gadget which is stylish and cool to really kick start the e-book market.
